The flag of Texas was adopted in 1839 and still flies in the capital city of Austin to this day. This flag is only one of two states that's current flag once stood as a national flag before it was a state. The flag is made up of red, white and blue with two iconic stripes of white and red. The lone star on the blue left side of the flag represents the state's nickname "The Lone Star State."
